I led the work on a comprehensive collection of guidelines, components and resources for Halfords.com. With such a well recognised brand the main challenge was to strike a balance between using the existing brand elements and introducing a refreshed web-first identity. Oh and we had T-Shirts made.

When I’m 2 months in designing a brand new user journey it’s very hard to see the screens like I’m seeing it for the first time. We check for flow, copy, usability and general feedback. We check new concepts, the current site and competitors too.

How?

I use UserZoom’s screen and voice record feature. After a precise screening I ask real users to complete a task on the website or a prototype, then watch the recorded video with their commentary.
